Karnal: The Computer Science Association Dyal Singh College, organised an orientation programme for school students under vocational education (NSQF) on ‘Basic of computer and its working’ on its premises. Brijinder Singh, principal and Inderjit Singh, Jyoti of GHS, Nagla Megha and Dr S P Bhatti, staff secretary and HoD, chemistry, along with 60 students of Classes IX and X attended the orientation programme. Gurmeet Kaur, assistant professor, computer science department of Dyal Singh College, Karnal, informed about the college, while Gurmeet Kaur about different courses running at present in the college and computer science department.

Blood donation camp

Karnal: The Youth Red Cross Society of Dyal Singh College, organised a blood donation camp in the college auditorium. Dr Yogesh Sharma, Civil Surgeon, was the chief guest. Principal DrAshima Gakhar welcomed chief guest Dr Yogesh Sharma and Dr Sachin Garg, in-charge, blood bank, Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College. Dr Gakhar said blood donation was very important as there was no alternative of human blood. Dr Sharma said any healthy person with a weight of 45 kg or more could donate blood. After three months, one can donate blood again. Men can donate blood for a maximum four times in a year; while for women this limit is thrice a year. Dr Subhash Saini, Incharge of Youth Red Cross, thanked everyone for successful organising the camp. All members of the staff were present on this occasion.

IGU felicitates winning students

Rewari: Indira Gandhi University (IGU) felicitated those students, who got first position in folk dance and demonstration art by poster in the National Integration camp organised by the Central Government at the CCSHAU, Hisar, recently. They were given commendation certificate by Vice-Chancellor Prof SK Gakhar while registrar prof Parmod Kumar, dean academic affair Prof Mamta Kamra, dean students welfare Prof Vijay Kumar and NSS Programme Coordinator Dr Karan Singh were also present on the occasion.

Interaction programme

Karnal: An orientation programme of first-year students admitted during the academic session 2021-2022 was organised in Dr D Sundaresan auditorium at National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI). A total of 247 students have joined in the academic session of 2021-22. As many as 32 students have joined BTech, dairy technology course, 125 students have joined masters and 90 students have joined the PhD programme. Students were welcomed by DrAshish Kumar Singh, head, DT Division and chief hostel warden of NDRI. Joint director (research) Dr Dheer Singh and joint director (academics) Dr RRB Singh congratulated the students for getting admission at NDRI. Dr Nitin Tyagi, academic coordinator introduced various academic activities and examination pattern to the students.

Rs16 lakh approved for project

Hisar: The Department of Science and Technology, Haryana, has approved an amount of Rs 16 lakh to project investigator Dr Swati Dahiya, Scientist and In-charge, Regional Research Centre on foot and mouth disease (FMD), Department of Veterinary Microbiology, LUVAS, Hisar for a research project on “Production and characterisation of foot-and-mouth disease virus specific nanobodies for application as diagnostic reagents” for three years. Dr Akhil Gupta and Anshul Lather are Co-PIs in the project.

Khalsa College wins c’ship trophy

Yamunanagar: In the annual inter-college athletics competition held at Kurukshetra University, Guru Nanak Khalsa College has achieved a new position by capturing the women’s and men’s championship trophy once again. Principal Dr (Major) Harinder Singh Kang said Prince Kumar, who won two gold medals and created university record, was declared as the best athlete in the men’s category. He said in the women section, the college team captured a total of 15 medals, including five gold, five silver and five bronze medals, while in the men section, they won 13 medals, which includes six gold, five silver and two bronze medals. The president of the college managing committee, Randeep Singh Jauhar congratulated all teachers and the winners.

Inter-college shooting c’ship

Faridabad: Excelling in the recently held inter-college shooting championship held at Jat College, Rohtak, shooters of Aggarwal College, Ballabgarh, made a milestone by bagging gold medals in the pistol team event of men and women category. Principal Dr Krishan Kant Gupta, said Sakshi of BA second year won gold, Shikha of BA first year bagged silver and Aarzoo of MA final (English) final got bronze at the individual level. Among the men category, Anmol Jain of M Com (final) bagged gold, Badal Dhankar of BA first year got silver at the individual level.

Faculty development programme

Sonepat: Professor Rajendra Kumar Anayath, Vice-Chancellor, Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST), Murthal, said, “Our country is helping other countries for space missions.” He was addressing an online faculty development programme on, “Applications of remote sensing and GIS” organised by DCRUST, Murthal, and sponsored bythe AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy, New Delhi. Prof Anayath briefed on applications of remote sensing and GIS. Professor Rajiv Kumar, Member Secretary, AICTE, the guest of honour in the inaugural session congratulated the coordinators of the programme. Professor Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar, said India ranked 46th in international innovation ranking and that the industry academia interaction would lead to collaborations and innovations leading to improvement in innovation ranking of India.

Differently abled pupils honoured

Rewari: The social work department of Indira Gandhi University (IGU) felicitated differently abled students enrolled in Samarpit and Nav Prerna Schools here to boost their morale. Vice-Chancellor Prof SK Gakhar, who inaugurated the function, said such programmes worked like a lamp to spread light in the lives of differently abled children. Registrar Prof Pramod Kumar said it would instill a sense of enthusiasm in their lives.
