“The percentage for domestic has risen to has 83 per cent, while that of imported coal has decreased to 17 per cent. Now, 1,200 MW of power is being taken from Adani,” Singh said.
In response to a question, he said power was being bought from Adani Power Limited at the rate of Rs 2.94 per unit. “Also, it is available from other thermals at the rate of Rs 3.40 per unit. The entire coal was being procured through Coal India Limited,” he said.
He elaborated that there was high demand for electricity in the months of May and June with no cuts except for two or three days during peak hours. “There was no cut in Gurugram, Faridabad industrial area as well.”
In response to another question, the minister alerted consumers that if they received any call pertaining to fixing power bill, one should be careful. “The department has not issued any such number. He directed to conduct a vigilance inquiry on this number, especially on receiving complaints of fake calls from mobile number 7679709312,” he added.
Meanwhile, Haryana state Congress president Udai Bhan said the new agreement between Adani Power Limited and the state reflected that the BJP-JJP government had completely surrendered to Adani.
He said there was a contract with Adani Power Limited in the year 2008 for 25 years during the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government. Adani Power was to supply 1,424 MW per day to Haryana at the rate of Rs 2.94 per unit.
But in September 2021, Adani Power refused to give electricity to Haryana and increased the rates per unit. This was a clear violation of the agreement.
