Officials directed to identify illegal dumps in Gurugram
Gurugram Divisional Commissioner RC Bidhan has asked the authorities concerned to identify illegal dumps in the city. He also asked the officials to take legal action against those who are running these dumps illegally, posing health hazards and causing air pollution.
He was presiding over a meeting of officials of the district administration and the Municipal Corporation, Gurugram, to review the progress made under the Solid Waste Environment Exigency Programme announced by the state government in the city.
District Magistrate Ajay Kumar, MC Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioner Dr Balpreet Singh, Joint Commissioners and HCS officers appointed as ward-wise nodal officers were present on the occasion.
Bidhan said it had been observed at many places that some people were sorting garbage at illegal dumps on private or government land.
He asked the corporation officials to issue notices to people involved in such illegal activities and initiate further action.
The MC Commissioner said a special sanitation security force had been formed to take action against those dumping garbage and debris illegally in the corporation area. The force visited various areas in the past one week and seized several vehicles.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the MC authorities to deduct one month salary of Harsh Chawla, Senior Sanitation Inspector posted in Zone-3 area of the MC, for poor sanitary conditions in his area. Other senior sanitation inspectors were also asked to improve sanitary conditions in their respective areas, failing which action will be taken against them.
