Keeping up the tradition, Nuh district recorded an appreciable 72.1 per cent voting, though amidst minor clashes.

Among the three Assembly segments, Nuh was the best performer with 73.9 per cent of polling followed by Ferozpur Jhirka with 72.9 per cent and Punhana with 69.5 per cent.

Among the three constituencies, Punhana was the most disturbed with minor clashes and stone pelting being reported between the supporters of Congress candidate Mohammad Ilyas and Independent Candidate Rahish Khan.

Both groups clashed accusing each other of bogus voting. The clashes were reported from Khwajakalan village and Gulalta village. The situation was worse in Gulalta village where several people were injured, and the clash also resulted in damage to properties. At least four shops and a truck were vandalised during the clash. Local police and paramilitary forces controlled the situation and restored peace. Those injured, primarily Rahish supporters, said that Congress supporters were trying to intimidate and create pressure on the Independent candidate’s faction, which led to the violence.
