Pt Neki Ram Sharma (NRS) Government College, Rohtak, won the overall trophy of three-day Inter-Zonal Youth Festival- Unifest- 2024 that concluded at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) here on Thursday. The runner-up trophy was clinched by KL Mehta Dayanand Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Faridabad.

The chief guest, Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, gave away the prizes to the winning teams at the closing ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, he said the dream of a developed India by 2047 would be fulfilled by the efforts of the youth. He called upon the youth and students to contribute 100 per cent in the process of nation building.

“Participation in extra-curricular activities like arts, literature, music, drama, etc leads to all-round development of personality,” he said.

Echoing similar views, MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajbir Singh said participation in such festivals enhanced communication skills, soft skills and life skills in students. He also underlined the role of the youth in preserving the rich cultural heritage of India and Haryana. Prof Randeep Rana, Dean (Student Welfare), MDU, gave the welcome address and shared information about Unifest 2024.

Dadri MLA Sunil Sangwan and eminent doctor Dr Aditya Batra were present as special guests. The best actor award in one-act play was given to Darshan, the best actress award was shared by Yogita Bhardwaj and Tabinda Bano. The best actor award in Sanskrit one-act play was won by Payal, while Sangeeta Kumari bagged the award for the best actress.
