Sonepat, February 25
The breaking of iron-mixed concrete walls built on the Singhu border by the Delhi Police to stop the agitating farmers from entering Delhi has now become a tough task in itself. Although continuous efforts are being made to break the cemented walls with machines, the work is taking a long time.
It is expected that one lane on both sides of the service roads at Singhu border on NH-44 would be opened for vehicular movement by Monday evening.
The Delhi Police had put up heavy barricading to block entry through the Singhu border at Shambhu and Khanauri borders.
The border had been sealed at the flyover and the service lanes on both sides. The police sealed the border with concrete boulders, iron barricades, cemented barricades and also filled the barricades with concrete and iron. As a result, 4-5 ft wide walls of concrete had come up on the border. Now, machinery has been deployed to remove the concrete walls, which has become a very tough task for the Delhi Police and administration.
Sources said that only two machines have been pressed into service to break the walls on the Singhu border’s service lane, but these are becoming overheated in a little span.
Meanwhile, after the work to open the border started, showrooms and shops have also started opening.
