No respite in sight from cold wave, fog in Haryana

Shivering persisted across the region throughout the day and night due to the cold wave and dense fog. As per the IMD, dry weather prevailed across the state. Many places reported dense to very dense fog and faced cold to severe cold wave conditions.

Experts anticipate a similar situation over the next four to five days, with a slight relief in the minimum temperature, rising by 2-3°C over the region. The authorities have issued an alert, advising people to stay indoors. The dry spell is expected to continue next week. The morning began with dense fog, causing low visibility and significant disruptions for commuters on national and state highways. The intervening night of Sunday and Monday was marked as the coldest night of the season, with Mahendragarh recording the lowest minimum temperature at 0.4°C, while Narnaul saw 1.8°C, and Hisar recorded 2.4°C. Narnaul also recorded the region’s highest maximum temperature at 22.5°C. Karnal district recorded 3.1°C as the lowest temperature of the season, as per data. Dr Wazir Singh, Deputy Director Agriculture, Karnal, said, “The present conditions are good for wheat crop and will help in good yield.”
