Municipal Corporation team catches stray cattle in Yamunanagar, Jagadhri

With an aim to make twin cities free from stray cattle, a team of the Municipal Corporation of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri (MCYJ) caught 10 stray cattle on Wednesday. The cattle were shifted to the gaushala run by Shri Gaushala Committee, Matka Chowk, Jagadhari.

Chief Sanitary Inspector (CSI) Harjeet Singh said the MCYJ had launched a drive to catch the stray cattle roaming in twin cities and villages falling under its jurisdiction. He said a team, led by him, caught 10 stray cattle roaming on roads and in colonies falling under zone-I of the MCYJ. He added that the stray cattle were caught from near Jagadhri bus stand, Ambala road, Jagadhri-Yamunanagar road, Paonta road, Railway road and several other places. “During this drive, an injured cow was found roaming in New Hamida Colony. It was given treatment and later shifted to a gaushala in Jagadhri,” said the CSI.

“This drive has been started on the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha and it shall continue until the twin cities are free from stray cattle,” said Singh.

According to information, in zone-I, the teams were formed under supervision of CSI Harjeet Singh and in zone-II, the teams were formed under supervision of CSI Sunil Dutt.

CSI Singh added that no person should abandon cattle in the twin cities. “If any resident abandons their cattle, a fine of Rs 5,100 will be imposed,” said Singh.

He said the caught cattle were also being tagged and if a tagged cattle was found on the road, a fine would be imposed on the gaushala operators.

He appealed to the general public that if they saw any stray cattle anywhere, they should click its photograph and send it along with the address or location to the MCYJ's WhatsApp number 7082410524. He added that the teams of the MCYJ would be immediately sent to the spot and the stray cattle would be caught and taken to the gaushala.
