Hisar, July 26
Jai Prakash, the Congress MP from Hisar, today raised the issue of the Hisar airport in the Lok Sabha. Reacting to budget proposals in Parliament, the MP said people of Haryana are confused over the fate of the airport, and asked if it was an international airport or a cargo airport.
He said foundation stones have been laid for the airport eight times. “The Central Government has been misleading people on this issue for the last eight years,” he said.
During the discussion on the Budget in the Lok Sabha, Jai Prakash also raised other issues, including the closure of the Doordarshan Kendra in Hisar; the farmers’ demand for compensation; Regional Rapid Transit System; and the setting up of a cancer hospital and rail coach factory in Haryana.
The MP said farmers have been sitting on a dharna in Hisar for many months, yet they have not received compensation. When the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Nidhi was started in 2019, the price of diesel was Rs 65 per litre, and now the figure is Rs 100. He complained that the scheme had not been upgraded and the farmers are paid only Rs 6,000 annually under it.
He said the Centre had shut down the only Doordarshan Kendra Centre in the state.
