Sirsa MLA Gokul Setia inspected the city’s cleanliness on Thursday morning. He called sanitation workers and employees, who are engaged in door-to-door waste collection vehicles, at Subhash Chowk. He spoke to them about their work and said that maintaining cleanliness in the city was everyone’s responsibility.

Setia said that Sirsa had two sanitation agencies and around 190 employees in the Municipal Council, but complaints about cleanliness were still being received. Setia said that residents could contact the Chief Sanitation Inspector or other inspectors if there are issues, but if the problem persists, the responsible officers would be penalised. He urged shopkeepers not to block the streets by placing goods in front of their stores and to cooperate in keeping the city clean.

Meanwhile on Wednesday night, the Municipal Council launched a campaign to capture stray cows due to the increasing number of accidents being caused by them. Recently, a youth lost his life after being hit by a stray cow on Begu Road.
