MLA Jagmohan Anand flags off Gita Jayanti procession in Karnal
The three-day-long Gita Jayanti Mahotsav concluded on Wednesday in Karnal and Kaithal district. A grand procession was carried out in Karnal city, which was flagged off by Karnal MLA Jagmohan Anand. It started from the Ramlila Ground, in which social, religious and educational institutions participated.
Prior to the procession, MLA Anand performed an aarti of the Bhagavad Gita and took part in the ceremonial yajna at the event, organized under the supervision of nodal officer and SDM Karnal Anubhav Mehta.
The procession showcased mesmerising depictions of Gita’s 18 chapters, featuring Lord Krishna imparting the sacred teachings to Arjuna, Radha-Krishna and other mythological themes. A “kalash yatra” was also carried out.
Jagmohan emphasised the universal relevance of the Gita, describing it as a source of inspiration and a guide to fulfilling one’s duties. The procession concluded at Dr Mangal Sen Auditorium.
A cultural programme was also organised at the auditorium. Chief guests, including Indri MLA Ram Kumar Kashyap and Assandh MLA Yoginder Rana, felicitated students for their performances. Rana highlighted the global recognition of the Gita Jayanti celebrations, crediting efforts by leaders like Prime Minister Modi and Swami Gyananand Maharaj.
Meanwhile, the BJP district unit, led by district working president Brij Gupta, also recited shlokas of Bhagavad Gita at the party's office.
In Kaithal, Hafed chairman Kailash Bhagat said the teachings of Bhagavad Gita provided the right direction and guidance for life. Addressing a gathering during the district-level Geeta Jayanti celebrations, Bhagat said, "The annual Gita Mahotsav is a matter of pride for every Indian.”
A grand procession was carried out, which was inaugurated by Bhagat. Religious organisations presented tableaux reflecting spiritual themes. Women also participated in the “kalash procession”. Meanwhile, during a programme at the Bhai Uday Singh fort complex, over 500 children, officials and residents participated in a collective chanting of 18 shlokas from the Bhagavad Gita. SDM Ajay Kumar, while addressing the gathering, highlighted the teachings of Bhagavad Gita.
