Minister Vij flags off mini-buses in Ambala
State Transport, Energy and Labour Minister Anil Vij on Friday flagged off four mini-buses for Ambala Cantonment and Ambala City.
The bus service has been resumed in the area after a gap of 20 years. The minister said that after the successful operation of this city bus service, electric buses will be introduced.
While addressing a gathering on this occasion, Vij said, “I congratulate all on the occasion of Haryana Day. Haryana came into existence on November 1, 1966, after getting separated from Punjab and it has come a long way on the path of development. Haryana has seen development in every sector, including agriculture, industrialisation, infrastructure, road networks, digitisation and automobiles. Despite the fact that Haryana has not got the SYL water from Punjab, the hardworking farmers of Haryana have made the state one of the biggest contributors in the central pool.”
“Today, Punjab is behind Haryana in terms of development. Punjab is like a big brother for us. We can't see it in such a poor condition. Haryana is moving ahead and it will keep progressing. Ambala Cantonment lacked facilities in the past but it has witnessed unprecedented development under the BJP’s rule,” he added.
The minister said, “Soon, we will purchase and introduce electric buses for the city service so that there is no pollution. The buses will ply every hour. While two buses will ply from Ambala City and reach Ambala Cantonment after covering various locations, two buses will ply from Ambala Cantonment to reach Ambala City.”
He said, “People of Ambala Cantonment have elected me for the seventh time. I have been given transport, energy and labour departments. I will work for the entire state. The condition of all bus stands in the state are being improved. Encroachments have been removed and passenger amenities are being improved.”
“The service will give a much-needed respite to the people of twin city, and they will be able to reach destinations at affordable fares of Rs 10 to Rs 25. In the coming days, new bus shelters and bus stands will also be constructed,” he said. He also sought suggestions from people regarding the buses and routes so that required changes could be implemented.
