Minister Anil Vij lays stone of dharamshalas, community centres in Ambala Cantt
Cabinet Minister Anil Vij today said that people should use their powers for public welfare instead of causing harm and stalling works.
He was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone at Kallerheri dharmashala in Ambala Cantonment.
Vij, who laid the foundation stones of five dharmashalas and community centres today, said, “Several projects were stalled by some people in Ambala Cantonment during the elections just to cause harm to us in the elections. Instead of misusing their powers, people should use their powers for the welfare of the public. Those who use their powers to cause harm to people have been taught a good lesson by the public of Ambala Cantonment.”
‘Projects were stalled to harm us in polls’
Several projects were stalled by some people in Ambala Cantonment during the elections just to cause harm to us in the elections. Instead of misusing their powers, people should use their powers for the welfare of the public — Anil Vij, Minister
Vij said, “This dharamshala in Kallerheri was approved before the elections, along with nine others, and after completion of the tendering process, work was allotted, but some people with vested interests halted the work to harm us in the elections. I don’t know on whose orders they stopped my work and they tried everything to hit us in the elections. If these works had not been stopped, these dharamshalas would have been completed by now, and today we would have been inaugurating these.”
The minister also mentioned various projects, including the upgrade of the civil hospital, cancer centre, and War Heroes Memorial Stadium, during his address, and said, “I have contested the elections on the basis of the work done. After the elections, we are again in the field to carry out development works. I am grateful to the people of Ambala for electing me the seventh time from Ambala Cantonment. I have always tried to work for the people,” he added.
The dharmashalas and community centres will be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.65 crore.
He laid the stone of the Kashyap dharamshala in Kallerheri, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 25 lakh; a community centre in Naggal which will be constructed at a cost of Rs 65 lakh, a community centre in Kardhan which will come up at a cost of Rs 25 lakh, a Harijan dharamshala in Khojkipur at a cost of Rs 25 lakh and a dharamshala in Rampur Sarsehri which will cost Rs 25 lakh.
Vij said, ‘‘We have also started the construction work of 20 roads and Rs 20 crore has been approved for the repair of roads, lanes and drains in Ambala Cantonment. This work will begin soon.’’
