A two-day national conference on ‘Emerging micro/nano-electronics: Devices, technology & VLSI design’ (EMNE-2024) started at Kurukshetra University on Thursday. The conference is being organised by the department of electronic science, KU, in collaboration with Gurugram University.

KU Vice-Chancellor Prof Som Nath Sachdeva said this conference aligned with the country’s vision to position India as a global leader in semiconductor chip manufacturing. In this direction, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology had worked out various initiatives such as India Semiconductor Mission, he added.

Prof Sachdeva added that he strongly believed that the research scholars and faculty members of KU would take maximum benefits of such initiatives and contribute towards research work and manufacturing of semiconductor microchips.

Gurugram University VC Prof Dinesh Kumar said a congenial ecosystem could be created in the area of semiconductor chip manufacturing by having the skilled human resource and expertise in advanced technology.

Keynote speaker of this session from Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, Prof Navakanta Bhat said the future of technology advancements depended on microelectronics, which focused on chip technology. Soon, microelectronics would eventually emerge as one of the most prominent fields of engineering studies with substantial demand for electronics engineers all over the world, he added.
