MC to install 41,000 LED lights in Yamunanagar, Jagadhri
The Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ), will replace old sodium, compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) and tube lights with new 41,000 light-emitting diode (LED) lights in the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri.
The MCYJ will spend Rs 17.12 crore (Rs 1711.90 lakh) to implement the project.
Tenders have been issued by the MCYJ for the project. The agency, which will be allotted this work, will have to complete the work of installing the LED in 18 months.
According to information, the MCYJ has got approval from the Haryana Urban Local Bodies Department to install 41,011 LED lights in Yamunanagar and Jagadhri cities.
After getting the approval, the MCYJ has issued a tender of Rs 1711.95 lakh for the installation of the lights.
Ayush Sinha, Municipal Commissioner, said that under the LED light project; old sodium, CFL and damaged tube lights would be replaced.
He said the agency, which would be allotted the work, would have to complete the work of installing LEDs in 18 months. He further said the new 41,011 LED lights would run/work on smart lighting systems.
He added that the LED lights would be based on the smart lighting system, for which a common control and monitoring system (CCMS) would be set up in the office of the MCYJ.
“With the help of the CCMS, the employees of the MCYJ will be able to know, on which pole the streetlight has developed a technical fault. They will not have to roam in the streets to find the faulty streetlight,” said Sinha.
He said these lights could be switched on and off from the MCYJ office itself. According to information, a survey was conducted to determine where these LED lights would be installed.
In the survey 28,000 new and 13,000 old points (where sodium light-bulbs, tube lights and CFLs were installed) were marked for installing the LED lights.
Along with this, the DPR of the project was also prepared. But, this project got delayed for a few months due to the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
“After completion of the Lok Sabha and Haryana Assembly elections, a tender of Rs 1711.95 lakh has now been issued by the MCYJ for installing these LED lights,” said Sinha.
