Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ), has launched a special cleanliness drive in the twin cities to get a good ranking in the Swachh Survekshan, 2024.

The special drive — ‘Swachhata hi Sewa’ — will continue till October 2. All areas of the 22 wards of the MCYJ will be covered under the initiative.

On the second day of the drive today, cleanliness work was carried out in the areas of zone-II of the MCYJ under the supervision of Chief Sanitary Inspector (CSI) Sunil Dutt.

Besides, this team also went from door to door in several areas, including the industrial area, market near the city police station and the main market of the camp to spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness.

The Yamunanagar-Jagadhri Municipal Corporation has started the ‘Swachhata hi Sewa’ campaign in the twin cities. Roads being cleaned under the drive.

The CSI also took feedback from shopkeepers and other people about the door to door garbage collection system and urged them to put garbage only in the vehicles of the MCYJ.

“This programme has been started on the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha. Under this programme, special cleanliness work will be carried out in every colony of the twin cities and every village falling under its jurisdiction. Besides, people shall be made aware about the importance of cleanliness,” said CSI Dutt.

He said they were educating people about the importance of disposing garbage through the door-to-door collection system instead of dumping it on empty plots.

He further said that they were urging the people to keep separate dustbins for wet and dry garbage.

In zone-I, the cleanliness work was carried out in several areas of Jagadhri by a team headed by CSI Harjeet Singh.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner Dr Vijay Pal Yadav said the MCYJ had now started a ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ programme to make the twin cities clean and beautiful.

“This programme will continue till October 2. Under it, special cleanliness work will be done in every colony of all wards and every village falling under MCYJ area,” said Vijay Pal Yadav.
