Manohar Lal Khattar inspects Bandhwari waste management plant
Union Minister of Energy, Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar inspected the Bandhwari waste management plant on the Gurugram-Faridabad road on Friday. On the occasion, he instructed officials to accelerate waste management efforts under the Swachh Bharat Mission and stressed on maintaining cleanliness on the eve of Diwali.
The minister said both the Central and state governments were committed to addressing the garbage issue in Gurugram and Faridabad. He highlighted efforts being made to dispose of legacy waste at the Bandhwari site with the goal of achieving a garbage-free plant within the designated timeframe. He said a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd (NVVN) to establish a plant that would convert waste into charcoal. In the next six months, the Gurugram Municipal Corporation (MC) would transfer 15 acres of land to the company for setting up the plant, he said. He instructed NVVNL representatives to inform corporation officials about which areas of the site had to be cleared, while ensuring that the land could be prepared for setting up the plant without any delay.
