Man shot dead in Jind
A 40-year-old man was shot dead by an assailant at the bus stand in Safidon town of Jind district today. The victim was identified as Sanjay, a resident of Anchra Kalan village in Jind district.
According to the police, the deceased was facing some criminal cases, including that of murder. He had come out of the jail on bail recently. He was scheduled to appear in the court in Panipat on Friday in connection with a criminal case. The police said it seemed to be a case of revenge killing due to some old rivalry. However, the details of the motive are still not clear, the police said.
The police said as he got off the bus at Safidon bus stand to board another Panipat- bound bus, a man standing at the bus stand shot him thrice from a close range. The assailants remained standing close to the victim for a couple of minutes after committing the crime and fled later. Some persons travelling in the bus in which the victim was also travelling filmed the entire incident. The video of the crime incident went viral on social media.
Soon after the incident, the City police station incharge Ishwar Singh, Sadar Police Station Incharge Virender Kumar and CIA Staff Incharge Kamal Singh reached the spot with their respective teams. The police took the body to the Civil Hospital in Safidon for the post-mortem examination.
SHO Ishwar Singh said the police were investigating the matter.
