Man held for running online scam
The cyber cell team of Dabwali police apprehended a man from Kalanwali for allegedly creating a fake Facebook profile to sell children’s electric cars. Suspect Sajid of Bharatpur, Rajasthan, used this fraudulent account to advertise electric cars and dupe buyers as he never delivered any products. The police seized a mobile phone from him, uncovering suspicious chats and advertisements related to this scam.
The arrest followed the cyber cell team receiving a tip-off. The team, led Surendra Kumar, learned that Sajid had a hideout in some fields near Pipli village on the Aseer Road and was actively involved in fraudulent activities. Upon arrival, they found Sajid using his mobile phone for some transactions. An investigation of his phone revealed a WhatsApp business account (No. 8875381972) loaded with chats linked to his fraudulent dealings.
On Facebook, Sajid used a profile titled ‘Guru Toy Car Company Scooty Bike Their Jeep All India Home Delivery’, where he posted fake ads, offering electric cars and other products for kids. The police team also discovered photos of electric cars and other suspicious messages, confirming his involvement in running the scam.
Sajid was taken into custody and presented before a court, which remanded him to Sirsa jail under judicial orders. The cyber cell is investigating further, while they warned people about similar scams on social media.
