A man was arrested for allegedly making an attempt to cast a bogus vote at a booth in Jagadhri city.

According to information, he was trying to cast the vote of some other person at a booth in Gadhi Mundo village. However, an agent of a political party noticed this and brought the matter to the notice of the polling officers.

Superintendent of Police Ganga Ram Punia said the accused had been arrested and a case was being registered against him.

Meanwhile, a man has alleged that he was beaten by some people of his village when he refused to cast his vote in favour of the candidate of their choice.

The man, who has been identified as Vikas of Jairampur village, lodged a complaint to the police in connection with this case. Jasbir Singh, SHO, Buria police station said that they got a complaint from Vikas of Jairampur village.

He said that in his complaint, he alleged that he was beaten up by four persons of the village as he didn’t cast his vote in favour of the candidate of their political party.

He said the matter was being investigated.
