A man’s body was found in the overgrown bushes of Sector 3, HUDA, at Kalanwali in Sirsa on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Vikas, a resident of Ward No. 1 near the Shani Dev temple. According to his family, he had a history of drug addiction, and they had tried to help him overcome it by sending him to rehabilitation centres in Bathinda and Sangaria, but to no avail. Vikas, who was missing since Thursday evening, was found dead the following morning.

The deceased, who was a clothing vendor, has a wife and an 11-month-old son. His family members, heartbroken at his death, said that he had fallen into a bad company, leading him down the path of drug abuse.

The area, where his body was found, has for long been a hub of criminal activity. Despite repeated requests from residents to clear the area, no action has been initiated by the local authorities. These overgrown areas are known for illegal activities, including drug trafficking and even prostitution.
