Man duped of Rs 9.72 lakh in name of selling land

A man was allegedly duped of Rs 9.72 lakh in the name of selling him agricultural land. The accused allegedly cheated the victim by preparing fake stamp papers.

Yamin of Hafizpur village of Yamunanagar district told the police that one Satvinder Singh told him that he wanted to sell his 8 kanal and 10 marla plots.

Ready to buy his land, Yamin said that an agreement was prepared in connection with the land deal in December 2019 after which Yamin paid Rs 8 lakh to Satvinder as earnest money of this land.

He further said that later Satvinder’s brother, Harinder Singh, told him that he wanted to sell his 4 kanal land and he (Yamin) showed an interest in buying that land too.

“After making an agreement of this 4 kanal land, I paid Rs 1.72 lakh to Harinder Singh as earnest money,” the complainant told the police.

He said that later he came to know that Satvinder Singh, Harinder Singh, Kulbir, all residents of Hafizpur village and Parleen Kumar had conspired to cheat him by preparing fake stamp papers.

On the complaint of Yamin, a case was registered against the accused at Pratap Nagar police station on November 9.
