The police have registered a case against four persons for allegedly duping a man of Rs 8 lakh in the name of sending him to Canada.

In a complaint to the police, Keshav of Jagadhri said he wanted to go to Canada so he, along with his mother Seema Singla, met Manshi Sharma, Hemant, Rudra and Ranbir at an office in Mohali, Punjab. He said they told him that he would have to spend Rs 12 lakh to go to Canada. He said they gave them a total of Rs 8 lakh in instalments in 2023.

He added that they told him in January 2024 that he was not granted a visa and they would return their money in April 2024. “They have so far not returned our money. Now, when we ask them to return our money, they threaten us with dire consequences,” alleged the complainant.
