Haryana Governor-cum-Chancellor of Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS), Rohtak, Bandaru Dattatreya has stated that the doctors should consider their profession as a medium of social service as the people consider them as a form of the almighty.

“Work done with a spirit of service automatically brings prosperity to one’s family. It is also important to have a research perspective of research in the medical field,” the Governor said while addressing the fourth convocation ceremony of the university on Tuesday. The UHS Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Anita Saxena, administered the Hippocratic oath to the fresh doctors.

She informed the participants that all departments of the university are being connected through CUG plan to ensure better coordination and improved patient-care. The Vice-Chancellor stated that kidney transplantation has started at the PGIMS and liver transplant will also be started soon, for which a doctor has already been appointed. The Director-General of the Armed Forces Medical Services, Surgeon Vice-Admiral Dr Aarti Sareen, who was the guest of honour at the ceremony, was conferred the degree of Honoris Causa by the Governor.

The Governor-Chancellor awarded degrees to 5,806 students, of whom 3,484 were girls. Moreover, of the 32 students who received gold medals, 23 were girls.
