Karnal’s Rishita Dang from Christ University, Ghaziabad, won a gold medal in the U-73 weight category of the All-India Inter-University Taekwondo Championship 2024, which took place at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

Around 700 athletes from 130 universities participated in this competition. Rishita is a third Dan Black Belt holder and has earlier won a gold medal in the first Khelo India Women's League held in Cuttack, Odisha in March. The championship highlighted the top taekwondo talent from the universities across India, with fierce competition in every category. Director and coach Manish Kumar from Champions Academy of Taekwondo, Karnal, and Vivek Kumar and Dr Somya Joseph, head, department of physical education from Christ University, appreciated her efforts. His father Dr Ajay Kumar Dang, head, animal physiology division, gave credit to Rishita’s dedication for her game and the efforts of her coach. He said it was a great achievement for Rishita and also for the university.
