Karnal: Constable booked for 'fake' degree

The Madhuban police have registered a case against a constable for allegedly submitting a fake graduation degree during recruitment to join the Haryana Police over three years ago.
The accused has been identified as Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Hansi in Hisar district, who was selected as constable in the Haryana Police through the Haryana Staff Selection Commission against an advertisement of 3/2018 in March 2019.
Rajender Kumar Meena, commandant, 5th Battalion HAP, Madhuban, had sent a complaint to the Karnal Superintendent of Police, Ganga Ram Punia, in this regard. “We have registered a case under Sections 406, 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC. Teams are on job to arrest the accused,” said the DSP Manoj Kumar.
The accused had submitted a graduation degree from the Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management University, Sikkim. The department had sent a letter for document verification to the university, which was shut five years ago.
The department had written to the University Grants Commission and the latter, in its reply in February last year, said the mentioned university was shut in April 2015 and it was even not operational.
