Pawan Khera, chairman of the All India Congress Committee’s Media and Publicity Department, launched a scathing attack on former CM Manohar Lal Khattar and CM Nayab Singh Saini for abandoning the people of Karnal. Khera criticised BJP for changing the CM’s constituency within six months, stating, “In the last ten years, Karnal has seen two CMs, but both have fled — one to Delhi after being elected as Union Minister and the other to Ladwa after the party changed his constituency.”

Khera emphasised that the people of Karnal welcome others warmly but also know how to hold them accountable. He raised several key issues, targeting the BJP regime in Haryana, and said the state would not forgive BJP for its repeated failures and mismanagement.

He highlighted the unemployment crisis and criticised the government’s handling of famers’ agitation. Khera said the state’s debt increased significantly under the BJP rule, from Rs 70,000 crore to Rs 4 lakh crore, and also questioned the progress of Karnal’s much-hype Smart City project.

Khera clarified rumours surrounding a proposal in Himachal Pradesh, stating, “There is no law or rule mandating nameplates on street vendors’ stalls.” He emphasised the Congress’ commitment to fulfilling promises made to the people of Himachal.

Regarding the current situation in Himachal Pradesh, Khera said all government employees are receiving their salaries, but MLAs have voluntarily chosen not to take theirs. He demanded apologies from key ministers and highlighted the election manifesto of the Congress, stating, “The Congress has kept its promises and will fulfil its promises made in the manifesto.”

He also announced Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi’s scheduled visits to Haryana, which will boost the party’s candidates. When asked about rifts in the Congress, he denied any rift, saying, “The Congress leaders are working together in their respective areas.”
