Kaithal district recorded a voter turnout of 72.1% in the Assembly elections held on Saturday, as per data given by the administration. With the completion of polling, the fate of 53 candidates contesting across four Assembly segments—Guhla, Kaithal, Kalayat, and Pundri—has been sealed in the electronic voting machines (EVMs). Despite a minor verbal spat at a couple of polling stations, the election process passed off peacefully. In 2019, Kaithal had witnessed 76 percent votes.

Guhla Assembly segment has recorded 69.2 percent, while it was 73.5 percent in 2019 Assembly elections. Kaithal Assembly segment recorded 74.3 percent in this election compared to 79.1 percent in 2019. The Kalayat Assembly segment has recorded 74.3 percent, while it was 75.6 percent in 2019. Pundri Assembly segment recorded 70 percent, while it was 75.6 percent in 2019.

The polling trends suggest a close competition across all four constituencies in Kaithal. In Kaithal Assembly seat, Congress candidate Aditya Surjewala, son of Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala, is in a direct contest with BJP’s former MLA Leela Ram.

In the Kalayat Assembly segment, the contest is a multi-cornered one, featuring former MLA and BJP candidate Kamlesh Dhanda, Congress candidate Vikas Saharan, son of Hisar MP Jai Parkash, INLD state president Rampal Majra, and AAP’s Anurag Dhanda.

The Pundri Assembly seat is witnessing a triangular contest among Congress candidate Sultan Jadola, BJP’s Satpal Jamba, and Independent candidate Satvir Bhana.
