Kaithal administration deletes names of 9,997 voters in four Assembly segments

Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, the Kaithal administration has deleted the names of 9,997 voters, including 5,855 males and 4,142 females. The highest number of deletion was recorded in the Kalayat Assembly segment, where 3,574 voters’ names were removed, followed by 2,922 voters in Guhla (SC), 2,046 in Kaithal, and 1,455 in the Pundri Assembly segment, said Dr Vivek Bharti, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Kaithal.

The district has four Assembly segments and all have 8,18,215 voters comprising 4,29,511 males, 3,88,691 females and 13 transgenders. The Kaithal Assembly segment has the highest number of voters at 2,21,355, including 1,15,773 males, 1,05,581 females and one transgender. The Kalayat Assembly segment follows with 213,387 voters, including 1,12,862 males, 1,00,522 females and three transgenders. Guhla (SC) has 191,782 voters, consisting of 99,998 males, 91,777 females and seven transgenders. The Pundri segment has a total of 191,691 voters, with 100,878 males, 90,811 females and two transgenders, the DC added.

On the second day of the filing of nomination papers, only one candidate submitted his nomination papers on Friday. Babu Ram from the Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) party filed his nomination from the Pundri Assembly constituency. No candidate has filed his/her nomination papers at the Kaithal, Kalayat and Guhla constituencies.

The Deputy Commissioner said candidates could submit their nomination papers till September 12 from 11am to 3 pm to the respective Returning Officers (RO). The candidates for the Kaithal Assembly segment can file their nomination papers in SDM court room at the Mini-Secretariat in Kaithal, while the candidates for the Kalayat Assembly segment can file papers at the SDM court, Kalayat, for Pundri at the ADC office and Guhla, at the SDM Court Guhla-Cheeka.

Karnal DC-cum-District Election Officer Uttam Singh said that on the second day of the filing of nomination papers, an independent candidate Virender Kumar Chawla filed nomination papers for the Karnal Assembly segment.
