Chandigarh, April 10

Senior advocate Harpreet Singh Brar was on Monday administered oath as a Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court by Chief Justice Ravi Shanker Jha at a simple but impressive ceremony pursuant to his elevation to the Bench.

The total number of Judges in the High Court, with the Justice Brar’s elevation, has gone up to 66 against the sanctioned strength of 85. At the ceremony attended by sitting and retired judges of the high court, bureaucrats, relatives and advocates, Justice Brar swore to “bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India as by law established”.

Justice Brar also swore to “uphold the sovereignty and integrity of India” and “duly and faithfully and to the best of ability, knowledge and judgment, perform the duties of the office without fear or favour, affection and ill will”.
