Jawan cremated with honours in Sirsa
Hisar, April 17
Nishan Singh (26) of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles, who died fighting terrorists in Anantnag in south Kashmir, was cremated in his native village with full military honours this evening.
He was recruited in the Army five years ago and was posted in Anantnag.
He was a resident of Bhavdin village in Sirsa. He succumbed to a bullet injury while undergoing treatment in Kashmir.
He had joined duty after two months of his marriage. His body arrived at the village today. The Army Jawans, district officials and a large number of locals attended the funeral procession.
Nishan Singh is survived by his wife, parents, a younger brother and three sisters.
His family members said he had joined the Army five years ago. The family received information that he was part of the operation to flush out terrorists hiding in Waternar village of Kokernag area of Anantnag district on Saturday evening.
During the encounter, Nishan Singh suffered a bullet injury and died during treatment.
