Inspect ultrasound centres regularly, officials directed

A meeting of the District Advisory Committee under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act was held at the local Civil Hospital, chaired by ASMO Dr Sonia, on Friday.

The committee discussed the quarterly inspection reports of registered ultrasound centres in the district from July to September and the renewal of hospital registrations.

Dr Sonia emphasised that conducting prenatal sex determination is a legal offence as per government guidelines. She warned that any ultrasound centre found involved in this practice would face legal action.

She also instructed officials to conduct regular inspections of ultrasound centres and take action whenever complaints or suspicions of illegal foetal testing were reported.
