Industry hopeful of revival plan as new govt set to take over

With the elections over and the BJP government set to take over for the third term, the entrepreneurial sector has started to look for more favourable policies and hurdle-free implementation on the ground for promotion of industrial and commercial activities in this industrial hub.

“We are hopeful about the launch or speeding up of initiatives for the promotion of MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) sector from the new government to boost the units which are still to come out fully from the impact of the sagging time period that got unleashed due to various factors including the Covid period,” says Rajiv Chawla, president, IAMSME (Integrated Association of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of India).

He said though both the Union and state governments took some excellent decisions or unveiled plans for the industry and business in the past 10 years, the only cause for concern has been the implementation in an effective manner.

Claiming that the implementation of various new policies needs to be done in the right perspective, he said release and disbursement of subsidies and incentives for the sector need a focus, which had been lacking.

Adding that the provision of conversion of non-conforming industrial zones to conforming zones and ensuring state-of-the-art basic amenities like roads, sewerage, streetlights, drinking water supply and round-the-clock supply of power were among the issues that are expected to be resolved or attended to on an immediate basis.

Ramneek Prabhakar of the Manufacturers Association Faridabad said that a well-defined rejuvenation plan for industry is the need of the hour as the city had still been reeling under the crisis connected with inadequate facilities or infrastructure.

He said besides carving out new industrial zones, the government should regularise around 16,000 functional units in non-conforming zones in the city. “The demand of setting up a mother-type unit (major or large) which could provide employment to a large number of people through ancillaries will also be taken up on priority with the new government,” he adds.

Suresh Chand Garg, president, Industrial Welfare Association, Sector-58, said that the government should come up with an efficient and transparent policy for estate management and the issues regarding civic infrastructure and pollution control measures need immediate attention.

“We are expecting world-class infrastructure and an attractive business model to take the city to a level-playing field with other leading hubs,” says Raj Bhatia, president of the Faridabad Industries Association. Faridabad and Palwal have over 30,000 industrial units, it is claimed.
