In Haryana, calls Congress new form of ‘urban Naxals’
Terming the Congress a new form of ‘urban Naxals’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said it was spreading “falsehoods and anarchy” in the country.
Kicking off his campaign for the October 5 Assembly elections in Haryana, the PM sought support for BJP candidates of 23 Assembly segments spread over Kurukshetra, Karnal, Ambala, Kaithal, Panchkula and Yamunanagar districts.
Addressing a Jan Ashirwad Rally here, Modi said, “Appeasement is the biggest goal for the Congress, and it can do anything for it... This is not the Congress of Mahatma Gandhi. Today’s Congress has become a new form of urban Naxals. It is not ashamed of telling lies and attacking the unity of the country. You have to be wary of the Congress and its allies.”
“Today the situation has become such that even Ganpati was put behind the bars in the Congress-ruled Karnataka,” he said, referring to a recent event when during a protest against stone-pelting at a Ganpati immersion procession, an idol was briefly “seized” by the police in Bengaluru.
He said, “The Congress family is against OBCs, STs and SCs, and always hated Baba Sahib Ambedkar. Atrocities were committed on Dalits in Haryana during the Congress regime, but it remained mum.” Claiming that the Congress’ “royal family” intended to end reservation for Dalits, the PM said as long as he was there, he would not allow it.
“The entire Dalit community is watching how the Congress is promoting only one family in Haryana,” he said, adding that during the Congress rule, development was restricted to only one district.
“Everyone knows in whose pockets development money used to go. The BJP ensured progress in the entire state. The government is working to bring electricity bills to zero for the poor and middle class in the country,” he added.
Mentioning the situation in Congress-ruled states, he said, “The party is in power in Himachal Pradesh, but no one is happy there. The Congress fed lies to all sections of society and failed to fulfil its promises. Now, government employees have been forced to go on strike for their salaries.”
The PM said, “The situation is similar in Karnataka and Telangana. Corruption and inflation are at peak in Karnataka. The Congress is showing how a good state can be ruined.”
Focusing on Dalits, farmers and ex-servicemen, he spoke about initiatives taken by the Centre and the BJP government in Haryana.
Wooing farmers, Modi said, “Haryana under the BJP is the only state procuring 24 crops on the MSP. The government also covers crops under the Bhavantar Bharpayee Scheme. The BJP started giving money to farmers in the form of Kisan Samman Nidhi.”
Targeting the Congress over the issue of the old pension scheme and OROP, he also accused the party of supporting restoration of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said, “The Congress wants to bring back the era when stones were pelted and bullets fired at our brave soldiers from Haryana. Our brave soldiers were martyred.”
He praised Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s style of working and easy accessibility. Calling upon people to vote for the BJP, he said, “In the third term, we will expedite development in the state and also focus on making Kurukshetra a centre of cultural tourism.”
