Sirsa: Ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections on October 5, the Sirsa police are conducting special checking operations. During one such operation, they seized ~6,70,235 from four individuals. The Sirsa CIA police apprehended a young man in the city’s grain market area with ~2 lakh. SP Vikrant Bhushan reported that the suspect, identified as Vikas, was stopped for a routine check when the cash was discovered during a search conducted in the presence of a Duty Magistrate. In another incident, the Ellenabad police seized ~2,10,000 from Surya Prakash and ~60,235 from Pankaj during checks in the Sudanpura border area near Rajasthan. Additionally, ~2 lakh was confiscated from Gurmel during the operation. The individuals were unable to provide satisfactory explanations or proof regarding the source of the cash. Bhushan emphasised that the money was seized in accordance with election regulations and relevant departments have been notified for further action. He assured that security measures were being intensified, especially along the borders with Rajasthan and Punjab, to ensure a smooth election process.
