HSIIDC to develop phase-II of industrial estate at Manakpur village of Yamunanagar district

To be developed over 258.04 acres; pollution board holds public hearing to grant clearance

Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (HSIIDC) has decided to develop phase-II of industrial estate at Sector-30 and Sector-30 A in Manakpur village of Yamunanagar district, opening a door for new industrial units and employment opportunities for people of surrounding villages.

The phase-II of the industrial estate will be developed over an area of 258.04 acres, which will be an extension to phase-I, that has already been developed at Manakpur village.

The phase-II of the industrial estate would include industrial plots, residential plots, institutional plots, public building plots and commercial area plots with all infrastructure facilities such as all-weather roads, water supply, sewerage and storm water drainage system and other facilities.

The Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) organised a public hearing to grant environmental clearance for the development of the phase-II estate in Manakpur on Wednesday.

The public hearing was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Capt Manoj Kumar and attended by Regional Officer of the HSPCB Virender Singh Punia, Assistant Environmental Engineers Abhijeet Singh Tanwar and Diksha Pandey and officers of the HSIIDC, including Deputy General Manager (Engineering Division) Ajay Mohan Bansal, Estate Manager, Manakpur, Sanjay Kumar Mittal, Manager Engineer Anil Kumar, retired Senior Manager Engineer Harichand, Estate Manager Surendra Kumar and people of neighbouring villages.

People were given an opportunity to express their views.

The authorities informed that air quality monitoring would be done regularly, green belts would be developed along the boundary of the industrial estate and on the campus.

Under solid waste management, a contract would be signed with the Municipal Corporation for solid waste disposal.

Under noise pollution management, regular maintenance of equipment and machines would be done and workers would be provided with necessary and personal safety equipment, the authorities informed.

Underwater quality management, necessary checks of the quality of groundwater and surface water would be done.

With the coming up of this industrial estate, people of Manakpur, Garhi, Udamgarh, Gulab Nagar, Jaroda, Modhawala, Mukaribpur and other villages will get employment opportunities, they said.

They said a number of works would be done here under social responsibilities. These works include the construction of toilets, provision of books for the school library of the villages and the facility of drinking water in the schools.

The Deputy Commissioner spoke to villagers, who had come for the public hearing programme for the grant of environmental clearance, and asked them if they had any objections. The villagers told him that they had no objections.

The villagers said that this project would increase employment opportunities for them.
