The bodies have been sent to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem. The police have registered an FIR against the owner of the house in this connection. No arrest has been made so far.

Dharmendra Kumar, the father of the children, filed a complaint in this matter and an FIR was registered under Section 105 (culpable homicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Sector 58 police station on Saturday, police said. The owner had given out the house on rent despite the fact that it was in a dilapidated condition, the police said.

The complainant told the police that the owner of the house failed to get the building repaired though he had raised the matter with him several times. He said the owner avoided or overlooked the matter by telling him that it would be repaired soon. He said his children might have survived, if the repairs had been taken up on time.

According to police sources, the incident took place around 6.55 pm on Friday when the minors were playing near a cot lying under the balcony of the house. The police said people in the area rushed to save the kids but there was a lot of debris. After removing the debris, they took the unconscious children to a nearby hospital where doctors declared all three of them dead. The victims were identified as Akash (10), Muskan (8) and Adil (6).

Village sarpanch Vivek told the police that one Savitri Devi, residing in the neighbourhood of the victims, informed him about the incident. He said the parents of the kids were out for work and the children were playing under the balcony, which fell resulting in their death.

The family, which hails from Bihar, had been living in the house on a rent of Rs 2,000 per month for the past three years. According to locals, the house was in a dilapidated condition. The recent rains might have further weakened the building, which had not been repaired for the past several years, it was claimed. The house belongs to one Rakesh of the same village.
