“If we look at the headlines of newspapers in the state over the past few days, there has been a blast in a Gurugram club where bombs were thrown. Four members of the same family were killed in Kurukshetra. In the past 35 days, there have been 15 police encounters with criminals, four policemen have been shot, and Rohtak has been shaken by a shooting incident. All these incidents show how law and order have completely collapsed in Haryana,” Hooda said.
Referring to the bombing incident in Gurugram, he said, “The economic capital of Haryana has been targeted, making it clear that criminals in the state are completely fearless. They have no fear of the police or the government. The BJP government is in a deep slumber, intoxicated by power, while criminals continue to commit crimes unabated.”
Hooda criticised the BJP government, stating that it has failed in its primary duty to protect citizens. “Ever since the BJP came to power, it has turned its back on its responsibilities, leading to a continuous rise in crime in Haryana,” he said.
The former CM attributed the declining investment in Haryana to the worsening law and order situation. “Investors prefer states with better law and order. The BJP has destroyed Haryana’s governance, which has driven investors away, reduced job creation and increased unemployment. This unemployment, in turn, has further fuelled crime, trapping Haryana in a dangerous vicious circle,” Hooda added.
Citing data, he pointed out that from January to August, Haryana witnessed an average of four rapes, three murders, 42 vehicle thefts and 25 house thefts every day. “Even in an election year, this government has failed to curb crime. The IPC crime cases reported in Haryana have doubled, from 72,000 in 2013 to 1,25,435 today. The crime rate has risen from 273 in 2013 to 419,” he said.
Hooda called on the BJP government to wake up and take decisive steps to improve the situation. “The Congress government eradicated crime in Haryana between 2005 and 2014, forcing criminals to flee the state. The BJP must take similar measures to protect the life and property of Haryana’s people,” he said.
