The Punjab and Haryana High Court has declared public holiday in all subordinate courts in Haryana on October 5 on account of the Assembly elections. A letter in this regard has been issued by the Deputy Registrar General of the High Court to all District and Session judges of Haryana.

Dr Vijender Singh Ahlawat, chairman, Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, said a letter was issued whereby only special casual leave on Saturday, i.e. the polling day, is sanctioned to all officers in all subordinate courts of Punjab, Haryana and UT Chandigarh who are registered voters in Haryana.

Ahlawat said there are 1,46,904 advocates enrolled under the bar’s jurisdiction of which 69,062 of them belong to Haryana.
