Rohtak, October 1
Former Home Minister and senior Congress leader Subhash Batra said the national highways leading to Delhi were blocked by the police personnel and not farmers, as was being stated by the Union and state governments.
“The BJP government is trying to project farmers as anti-social elements by creating an impression that the roads leading to Delhi have been blocked by agitating farmers at Singhu and Tikri borders, which is untrue. The roads have been blocked by the police on government’s orders to show the farmers in bad light,” Batra said, while addressing a news conference at his residence in Rohtak today.
He sought a white paper from the Haryana Government on the actual reason behind the road blockades at Singhu and Tikri borders, due to which residents have been facing problems for more than 10 months.
Coming down heavily on the BJP regime in Haryana, Batra categorically asked Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to resign.
“The Chief Minister has failed to deliver in seven years of his two consecutive tenures. It is high time that he is replaced by an efficient leader, who can take measures for the betterment of the state,” said the Congress leader.
