The Punjab and Haryana High Court has restrained the State of Haryana from assigning postings to TGT science teachers promoted vide office order dated October 14. The direction by Justice Tribhuvan Dahiya on two petitions filed against the State and other respondents.

Available information suggests, as many as 500 persons will be affected by the order. The Bench was hearing the petitions filed by Narender Kumar and other petitioners through advocate Sanchit Punia and Tejpal Singh Dhull.

The Bench, during the course of hearing, was among other things told that the petitioners’ matter was called for promotion to the post of TGT science, along with other similarly placed JBT/PRT teachers of the 2017 batch.

There were certain objections regarding the petitioners. As such, information or additional documents in this regard were sought from the officer concerned vide memo dated October 14. In response, necessary particulars were submitted. But the department still did not consider the petitioners for promotion “for no reason”.

At the same time, it sought preferences for posting from the similarly placed teachers, who had been given promotion, while withholding the petitioners’ cases. The counsel added in case the postings were given prior to considering the petitioners for promotion, grave prejudice would be caused to them as their preferred stations would not be available for no fault of theirs. Fixing the case for November 26, the Bench asserted: “In the meanwhile, the respondents are restrained from giving posting to the TGTs promoted vide office order dated October 14”.
