Haryana’s culture has global impact: Gurugram varsity ex-VC
Haryana's culture and spirituality have had a significant impact in the global context. This state is a part of the cultural stream of the Indian subcontinent, and its glorious religious, cultural and spiritual traditions have been influential not only in India but also globally. Dr Markandey Ahuja, former Vice-Chancellor of Gurugram University, as the keynote speaker, stated this in an extension lecture over “Impact of Haryana's culture and spirituality in the global context” held under the joint aegis of the Haryana Studies Centre and departments of public administration, history, sociology and political science in Maharishi Dayanand University (MDU) here.
“Haryana’s culture and spirituality have not only influenced Indian society, but have also contributed to the Indian religious and cultural stream at the global level. The preaching of the Bhagavad Gita given by Lord Krishna at Kurukshetra in Haryana has become an important source of understanding the principles of humanity, religion, karma and yoga across the world,” said Dr Markandey.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajbir Singh, Director of Haryana Studies Centre, Prof SS Chahar, Dean Prof Sewa Singh Dahiya, Dr Jagbir Narwal, Dr Rajesh Kundu, Dr Samundra Singh, Dr Sumanlata, Pankaj Nain were present on the occasion.
