Haryana shines at 68th national-level kabbadi competition
The state's girls team registered an emphatic victory over Odisha with an impressive 51-9 score in the ongoing National School Games (Under 19) being held at Bhim Stadium in Bhiwani on Wednesday. Haryana’s team (boys) outclassed Chhattisgarh 42-8 to advance.
The Haryana Education Department is organising the event in which 31 boys and 28 girls teams have been participating with approximately 1,000 participants from across India.
In other matches in the girls category, Tamil Nadu defeated West Bengal 42-20, Delhi edged out Assam 35-34, and Karnataka overpowered Madhya Pradesh 46-37. Maharashtra also won over Himachal Pradesh 40-38, and Rajasthan narrowly defeated theCBSE Board School Games Welfare Society (CBSEWSO) 31-30 to secure their quarterfinal berths.
In the boys matches, Rajasthan beat Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti 48-21, Punjab outshined Jammu and Kashmir 32-16 and Vidya Bharati dominated West Bengal with a staggering 56-29 victory. Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and CBSEWAO also secured wins in their respective matches.
Block Education Officer (BEO) of Education Department Shivkumar Tanwar said they had made elaborate meticulous arrangements for the event, ensuring smooth transportation, accommodation and medical facilities for the players and coaches. Sixteen schools in the area are hosting the teams, providing boarding and lodging facilities to enhance their experience.
The event is set to conclude on December 11 and Haryana's Women and Child Development and Irrigation Minister Shruti Chaudhary is expected to grace the event.
