Faridabad: As the time of announcing the names of candidates comes near, the majority of ticket aspirants have intensified their efforts to attract the attention of party leaders and workers by resorting to various means of publicity. While putting up posters and banners with their photograph along with the senior state and national-level leaders has become a common practice, an attempt made by a local ruling party leader to project himself (without including the names and photographs of senior leaders) reportedly boomeranged. He had to get a second advertisement published in vernacular newspapers which included the photos and names of some of the top leaders of the party within two days of the first advertisement in order to avoid the negative fallout, it is claimed. The modus operandi of giving ads in print, electronic and social media in the form of greetings and interviews also has hit a feverish pitch in view of the selection process nearing the conclusion stage.

Road divider hotly discussed

Panipat: The construction of a divider on a road in Model Town has become a political issue here. The matter has even become the centre of chat between MLA Panipat Urban and an exporter on a WhatsApp group of exporters. An exporter drew his attention to the problems caused by the construction of a 5-ft-wide divider on the road from Disha hospital to Aneja petrol pump. The MLA also replied to the exporter. Meanwhile, some residents raised this issue before the ULB Minister and in a Samadhan Shivir, but the construction of the divider continues.

Minister takes mobike ride

Yamunanagar: Haryana Agriculture Minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar is known for his humbleness. He recently visited the flood-affected areas in Sadhaura block of Yamunanagar district. During his visit, he came to know that his car couldn’t go to the embankment of Somb river, which was damaged by the flood water and had wreaked havoc in Sadhaura area. He immediately decided to take a ride on a motorcycle and reached the embankment to take stock of the ongoing repair work of the embankment. He asked the officers of the Irrigation Department to undertake repair work of the damaged embankment on a war footing.
