Haryana Diary: Ticket aspirants ‘impress’ leaders
Karnal: As civic body elections approach, ticket aspirants from the BJP are leaving no stone unturned to impress the leadership. Several ticket aspirants for the post of councillors are making all-out efforts to enroll the highest number of members. Party leaders, who want a post in the party, are also making similar efforts. They believe their performance in the membership drive will enhance their chances of being fielded as candidates for the post of councillor or appointed to other major roles. Their efforts are being monitored closely by the party leaders.
Differences among farm leaders
Ambala: The fresh Delhi march call given by the SKM (non-political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha has once again brought the differences among senior farmer leaders of the region to the fore. Feeling ignored, several senior farmer leaders from Haryana, including BKU (Charuni) chief Gurnam Singh, who played an active role in the previous agitation, have been staying away from the action. On the condition of anonymity, a farmer leader from Haryana said they (Punjab leaders) want support and strength from the farmer unions of Haryana, but don’t want to see the farmer leaders of Haryana taking decisions.
Villagers release videos of poor work
Hisar: After PWD Minister Ranbir Gangwa suspended two officials of the department for substandard material used in the construction of a road, residents from two villages - Franci and Kalirawan - released videos of the poor quality road work from their villages on Sunday. Gangwa, who is a resident of Hisar district and represents the Barwala Assembly segment, had warned the officials of strict action if there is any complaint. Superintendent Engineer Ajit Singh had taken cognisance of the complaint and ordered an inquiry.
Schoolchildren a happy lot
Panipat: Schoolchildren are happy due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Panipat on Monday. PM Modi would launch ‘Bima Sakhi’ scheme for empowering women from here. Foreseeing the inconvenience due to the Prime Minister’s visit in Panipat, managements of most of the private schools declared leave for students. Even the schools have postponed pre-board examination and unit tests, which were scheduled for Monday.
