Haryana Civil Services officer suspended after allegations of sexual abuse
A Haryana Civil Services (HCS) officer has been placed under suspension following allegations of sexual abuse made by a contractual safai karamchari, who belongs to the Dalit community. The complainant has submitted a written complaint to the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC), the CM Window, the Punjab and Haryana High Court, and the Hisar Superintendent of Police, demanding action against the officer.
A video allegedly showing the abuse, along with a copy of the complaint, went viral on social media today. In response, the state government suspended the HCS officer, reassigning his headquarters to the Chief Secretary’s office in Chandigarh for the duration of the suspension. According to the suspension order, the officer is not permitted to leave his headquarters without prior permission from the Chief Secretary.
The complainant stated that he previously worked as a masseur and was assisted by the same officer in obtaining contractual employment as a sweeper. He alleged that the officer summoned him for a massage, during which he was physically abused and threatened with a pistol. The officer also made casteist remarks towards him. According to the complainant, he secretly filmed the act about a month and a half ago. He further claimed that he was often denied payment for his massage services, typically charged at Rs 200.
In his complaint to the NCSC, the complainant demanded strict action against the officer, stating that the ongoing harassment and humiliation had become intolerable.
