Gurugram police nab 165 criminals ahead of Assembly poll
In order to maintain law and order ahead of the Assembly poll, the Gurugram police have launched “Operation Aakraman” and arrested 165 criminals, including 54 proclaimed offenders and bail jumpers, said a spokesman of the Haryana Police.
A total of 216 police teams comprising 960 police personnel were part of this massive search operation. Special nakas were set-up at vulnerable spots from 6 am to 12 pm to keep tabs on those selling illicit liquor, thieves, gamblers, criminals and proclaimed offenders.
One of the police teams nabbed an accused who was having a reward of Rs 20,000. Two persons wanted in murder and attempt to murder case were also arrested during the operation.
The police seized 1,199 bottles of country- made liquor, 1,125 bottles of foreign liquor and 124 bottles of beer, six pistols, 16 cartridges, two mobile phones, a gold ring, six bikes and cash worth Rs 16,400 from the possession of those arrested.
A total of 96 challans were issued for plying vehicles without number plates and 27 challans were issued for driving on the wrong lanes.
