Gurugram hospital staffer held for ‘raping’ Kazakh woman

A Kazakh national was allegedly raped by an employee of a private hospital in Sector 51 here. The 24-year-old accused, identified as Thakur Singh, worked as an attendant and targeted the victim, who was in an unconscious state.
The police have arrested the accused, who has been temporarily removed from service by the hospital. An FIR was registered under Section 64 (2) (e) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Sector 50 police station. The accused was produced in a city court and sent to judicial custody.
The incident took place on Sunday morning in the hospital, where the Kazakh woman was admitted on July 9 for an arthroscopy surgery. After the surgery on July 13, she was shifted to a room where she was with her daughter. The attendant sexually assualted her while she was under sedatives. When the victim’s daughter spotted the accused, she raised an alarm.
A senior police officer said a special team had been formed to investigate the incident. A spokesperson for the hospital said: “We will ensure that all parties involved are treated with fairness.”
