Gurugram civic body to plug leakages, repair sewer lines
The Municipal Corporation, Gurugram, (MCG) will soon begin with the work of repairing and cleaning the manholes and master sewer lines (600-900 mm) from Khandsa Road to Pataudi Chowk via Basai Chowk.
People living in these areas have long been complaining of blockages and leakages of sewer lines, particularly, during the monsoon period.
MC Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg has instructed the officials concerned to repair and clean the master sewer lines before the advent of the next year’s rainy season.
A senior official of the engineering branch revealed that the online tenders of these works had been floated by the civic body. The work orders will be issued after the selection of a suitable agency for this job. The tenders for cleaning, desilting and repairing of manholes from Khandsa Road to Basai Chowk via Pataudi Chowk of master sewer line (600-900 mm) under Division-1 will be opened on coming December 9. The estimated cost of this project is Rs 1.02 crore.
A separate tender for the operation and maintenance of sewer networks in Wards 6, 18 and 19 will also be opened on December 9, and the estimated cost of the project is Rs 96.67 lakh.
Another tender for the hiring of jetting machine and repairing of damaged manhole covers frames, slabs, sewer lines and manholes for Ward 32 has also been floated, which will be opened on Thursday. The estimated cost of this project is Rs 44.61 lakh.
A tender for the cleaning and desilting of sewer lines using bucket machines in Shakti Park, Hari Nagar and Sector 10A in Ward 23 will be opened on Wednesday, and the estimated cost of the project is Rs 43 lakh. The tender for providing and laying 300 mm of sewer line and road restoration in streets 5, 6 and 7 of Om Nagar, Ward 20, will be opened on Thursday and the estimated cost of this project is Rs 26.67 lakh.
During Samadhan Shivirs, the locals had brought in hundreds of complaints regarding the blockage and leakage in the sewer lines.
