The air quality index (AQI) of Gurugram was slightly better than Delhi and Ghaziabad on Tuesday.

As the AQI was still under the “poor” category, civic body officials carried out inspections and issued challans for violations of the prohibitory orders issued under Stage-2 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).

The average AQI of Gurugram on Tuesday was 217, compared to 355 in Delhi. The average AQI of Faridabad was 205 while that of Ghaziabad was 269.

Gurugram MC Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg said they were taking several measures to control deteriorating air quality.

He said 413 challans had been issued so far. He added that the MC had imposed a fine of Rs 13.20 lakh on units, found violating the prohibitory orders.
